The club is run by a volunteer committee that meet regularly to make sure the club runs smoothly in everything it does. The committee exists to serve the club and to ensure the best possible service is given to the members.

Since joining the club in 2010 I have progressed through the old award system and worked my way up to distinction, this has given me the ability to be in a current teaching position as well as this throughout that time I have taken growing responsibility on the club committee by organising events. These events include a stand at Swan Walk Shopping Centre, a water safety presentation at Millais school to over 1200 girls and set up the vInspired programme at the club to reward our volunteers. For this work I was awarded Club Member of the Year in 2013 and hope to continue to support the club in the future.

I joined HLSC in 1992 when I was doing my Bronze D of E Award. I completed all the heritage awards and
then became a club teacher and committee member in 1994. In 1994 and 1995 I won club member of the year. Sadly university
got in the way of my commitment to club, and in 1999 I left when I moved away from Horsham. In August 2013 I returned to
Horsham and was delighted to learn that David was still running the club and was keen to return, I was less delighted in
learn that two of my more ‘challenging’ pupils from the 90’s (Brothers Wright) were now stalwarts at the club!
I am currently working my through the new awards system and look forward to helping out the club where I can.
